Today I will do and act upon what I know to be God’s will for me, even if the doing seems insignificant to any sacrifice I may make.

John 13:17
Now that you know this truth, how happy (blessed) you will be if you put it into practice!
Good News Translation

There are two parts to this commitment. First, we need to know the “truth” of God’s will. As Chambers points out, we cannot know God’s truth for us if we focus only on sacrifice and not on doing. “If you believe in Jesus, you are not to spend all your time in the calm waters just inside the harbor, full of joy, but always tied to the dock. You have to get out past the harbor into the great depths of God and begin to know things for yourself— begin to have spiritual discernment.”

Next, we need to do it so that we move beyond what we comfortably are and become what we have never been.
Today I will act according to God’s will rather than bring offerings to His alter if that is His will for me.
