Today I will not worry in the sense that Christ intended. I will do what I can and must do, and God will do what He can and will do out of His nature of love. The most important action I must do is seek His kingdom and righteousness above all else. This frees me from the folly of adorning myself, literally and figuratively, with stuff to enhance my image, when the most beautiful raiment is within, when my soul mirrors Christ. The metaphor of the lilies of the field, therefore, reminds me that the life God created is in place and working just fine.

Matthew 25
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. 28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” NIV

Today I will approach God’s altar beautifully clothed.
