Parables
What are they?
Why are they important?
Parables are short stories with profound meaning. They were a common form of teaching at the time of Christ. Drawing on everyday scenes and occurrences, and often using hyperbole, they communicate specific messages about God’s kingdom. The irony of the parables is that they are best understood with a childlike innocence; the wise and the smart often miss the message.
