The Breath Of God Is Life Abundant

With One Breath Creation Was Born

Image of the universe, cosmos. Breathed into abundant life by God
Imagine the universe as it was breathed into life by God.

Ponder great things for it is Advent. Allow your mind to wonder. How did creation happen? Are you satisfied with the Big Bang theory? Is Genesis true?

Your answer depends upon your concept of God.

Asked a different way, what do you want to believe? What (or who) will satisfy that yearning for understanding which disquiets the soul?

Consider Psalm 33:6

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,

    their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

(NIV)

What is meant by the word “breath?”

The various meanings in Hebrew add to the magnificent poetry of the verse 6 and the images it stirs;

Breath, wind, spirit, mind, heart, seat of life, whirlwind, wisdom, tempest, and more.

What if God simply breathed the stars into creation? Can you picture this? How would this form your idea of God?

I am simply left breathless by the idea that this “breath of creation,” existing before our concept of time, visited us 2,000 years ago. In human form. Out of love.

“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”

Colossians 1:16 NIV

Advent. The time to wonder.
