Today I will acknowledge how ill prepared and fearful I am to follow Christ to the cross. I cannot grasp how His love is transformed into such resolute determination, and I tremble as I follow sheepishly behind Him.
But I take a moment to remember that it is not I but Christ who will be crucified in my stead, and that the redeeming nature of His sacrifice is assurance on His word that what is impossible for man is possible for God.
And, so, I must follow, relying on God’s strength and not my own; not on my self-sufficiency, my money, my possessions, my arrogance.
Mark 10:32
At length, they made their way toward Jerusalem. Jesus was walking ahead of them. As they neared the city, wonder and amazement filled them. But soon those who were following began to tremble.
Mark 10:26-27
The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Today I will lay my tepid resolve upon God’s altar.
