Today I will exalt God in the menial, commonplace, simple and unsophisticated elements and experiences of life, for that is where and how Christ touched us and entered our lives. It is in these unlikely and unseemly places where Christ resides, far from grand visions and spectacular experiences, that we must ground our thoughts to service and mission. To wait for the grand moment is futile; it is like “trying to produce the munitions of war in the trenches — you will be killed while you are doing it.” (Chambers)
John 13:14-15
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
NIV
Today I will accept my responsibility to do the forgettable tasks which I may encounter on my way to God’s altar to offer my sacrifice of thanksgiving.
