Awaken To The Joy Of Bible Study
“This book (the Bible) will keep you from sin. Or, sin will keep you from this book. Dusty Bibles always lead to dirty lives.”
So begins “How to Read the Bible Like a Seminary Professor,” an online course taught by Dr. Howard Hendricks (1924-2013), one of the most celebrated teachers in Dallas Theological Seminary history.
Why study the Bible? Dr. Hendricks offers two reasons. First, personal Bible study is not an option. It is an essential if you wish to grow and be transformed. Second, he shares that “There is no greater joy than conveying the proof which God has revealed in His Word.”
The decision to study the Bible is up to you and the following words will help you decide;
“The only option confronting a Christian is this; you are either in the Word and the Word is forming Jesus Christ in you. Or, you are in the world and the world is squeezing you into its mold.”
Joy. Growth. Transformation. Being formed in Christ. These are all good reasons to study.
