Today I will come to Christ, not just follow Him. If I follow, He will still be apart from me. But, if I come to Him, I will be part of Him. If I only follow, I cannot take His yoke. But, if I come to Him, He will share mine.

Matthew 11:28-29
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest*. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
KJV

(See also The Passion Translation.)

*Rest. What is the rest Christ speaks of? “And I will give you rest,” i.e., I will stay you. Not — I will put you to bed and hold your hand and sing you to sleep; but — I will get you out of bed, out of the languor and exhaustion, out of the state of being half dead while you are alive; I will imbue you with the spirit of life, and you will be stayed by the perfection of vital activity.” Chambers

Consider this expression as a release from the overbearing burden of the Jewish laws.

Today I will go to God’s altar seeking my true rest.
